Simon Zhao-Xiong He was born in Guangzhou and graduated from medicine from the University of Melbourne in 1998. Since 2007, Dr He has become a joint fellow in colleges of Pathologists and Physicians specialising in laboratory and clinical haematology.
Dr He was awarded Haematology and Bone Marrow Transplant fellowship at The Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH) in 2007 and the Max Whiteside Clinical Fellowship by Leukaemia Foundation in 2008.
Dr He was appointed as the medical lead in bone marrow transplant stream at Olivia Newton-John Cancer, Wellness and Research Centre at Austin Hospital in 2016 and also works as bone marrow transplant physician at Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre (VCCC) in Melbourne.
Dr He undertook clinical research in acute myeloid leukaemia, chronic lymphocytic leukaemia, autoimmune disorders and chronic graft-vs-host disease. Other major areas of interest include bone marrow transplantation and chronic myeloid leukaemia.
Simon also speaks fluent Cantonese and Mandarin.
